As a wedding photographer, there are few things more rewarding than getting to document a couple's story from the very beginning. Some couples come into my life on their wedding day, while others allow me to be part of every milestone leading up to it. Marc and Jess's journey was one of those incredible full circle experiences that I'll always cherish.
A Surprise Proposal at Aqua Beach Hotel | July 2025
It all began on a beautiful summer day at Aqua Beach Hotel. Marc had planned the perfect surprise proposal, filled with excitement, anticipation, and so much love. Those moments just before someone realizes what's happening are always some of my favorite to photograph, and Jess's reaction was absolutely priceless.
From the moment she said "yes," you could see how genuinely happy they were. There were happy tears, endless smiles, and the kind of excitement that only comes from knowing you've just started the next chapter of your life together.
Being trusted to capture such an intimate moment is something I'll never take for granted.
An Autumn Engagement Session in Stony Brook Village | October 2025
A few months later, we met again for their engagement session in the charming streets of Stony Brook Village. October couldn't have been a more perfect time for photos. The crisp air, beautiful fall colors, and cozy atmosphere made the perfect backdrop for documenting this exciting season of their lives.
By this point, it felt less like a photographer meeting clients and more like catching up with friends. We spent the session exploring the village, laughing together, and creating photographs that truly reflected who Marc and Jess are as a couple.
Between the proposal and engagement session, we also met a few times at our local favorite, Great South Bay Brewery, to chat about wedding plans. Those conversations made me even more excited for what was to come, and I loved getting to know them beyond the camera.
Their Wedding Day at East Wind | July 2026
One year after their proposal, everything came together at their beautiful wedding at East Wind.
Walking into their wedding day felt incredibly special because I wasn't simply documenting strangers getting married. I was watching two people whose journey I'd witnessed from the very beginning finally become husband and wife.
The day was filled with genuine emotion, joyful laughter, and so many unforgettable moments shared with the people they love most. Every smile, every embrace, and every happy tear carried even more meaning knowing where their story began just one year earlier.
There's something incredibly rewarding about seeing a couple grow through every stage of their engagement. From the nerves before a proposal, to the excitement of an engagement session, to the overwhelming joy of walking down the aisle, every chapter builds on the last.
Why I Love Photographing the Entire Journey
One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer is building real relationships with my couples. Spending time together throughout the engagement allows us to become comfortable with one another long before the wedding day arrives.
By the time Marc and Jess's wedding day came around, they knew exactly what to expect from me, and I knew exactly how to capture the little moments that were uniquely theirs. That comfort and trust make such a difference, allowing couples to stay present while I document their story naturally.
